Greenday are now being described as the biggest band in the world,and have been around for 16 years,but life wasn't always as sweet,the road to fame for the trio was a hard and long one but certainly worthwhile.They have been compared to Punk rock legends Sex pistols,they have stromed the charts across the world with their unique sound.These guys truly are amazing and this page goes out to them. Billie Joe Armsrong is the lead singer and guitarist,one of his main influences is johnny ramone. "Punk is a life-style,it's not about all the popularity and that crap"Billie Joe Armstrong Billie was born in 1972 on Febuary the 17th-A legend was born.Billie Joe was born in Rodeo,near the bay area of the city.This is in California,around 15 miles away from Berkeley. Billie was born into a working class family in a relativly nice neighbourhood.His mother was a waitress at a local restaurant whilst his dad was a truck driver and jazz muscian.Billie's mother had already turned 40 when she gave birth to Billie,he was the youngest of six children.His father tragically died of lung cancer when Billie was 10 years old. Billie Joe was given a guitar by his father the year before he died,this was his first,a blue Fernades stratocaster-a copy of a fender,this he nicknamed blue and he still plays it everyday. Mike dirn't (Micheal Pritchard) Mike was adopted when he was an infant,His real mother was a heroin addict,he was adopted by a native american woman and a white father. His adoptive parents seperated when Mike was 7,he chose to live with his Adoptive mother and sister. Billie Joe and Mike met in pinlole valley high on the 5th year.Pinole valley is in the Bay area of San Francisco.They met in the school cafeteria in 1982. Mike and Billie spent their time making music and writing songs.Mike moved in with the Armstrong family when he was 15.In 1987 Mike and Billie and Alsobrante founed the band sweet children.Their first ever show was in 1988 at Rod's Hickory pit.At this time Tre cool (Born Frank edgwin the 3rd) was playing for the lookouts when Billie and Mike first saw him drumming and were instantly impressed,they now knew where to look when their original drummer (Al sobrante) Left temporarily to go to college,with Tre now on board and no sign of Al returning the 3 peice re-named themselves Green Day,then it all kicked off,fast forward seventeen years and Green Day are one of the biggest bands in the world,Three guys who's high school teachers thought they'd amount to nothing have made rock history.
